About our church
The name JOY Presbyterian Church reflects our desire to bring joy to God as a church, a family, and a community. We pray that, through the Holy Spirit, our lives overflow with the joy of heaven.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a Spirit-led, Christ-centered church that uplifts others through prayer, proclaims the truth of God's Word, and glorifies Jesus through joyful worship and loving community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to glorify God by putting Jesus first, others second, and ourselves last, living out the gospel through love, humility, and obedience.
Belief Statement
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.
The Triune God
We believe in the Holy Trinity. There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Creation
We believe God created all things by the word of His power in six days as described in Genesis. God governs and preserves His creation by His providence. Though there are differing views on the nature of the creation days, we affirm that God is the personal Creator who brought all things into existence out of nothing.
The Fall
We believe all humanity participated in Adam’s fall from his original sinless state, resulting in total depravity. Through this fall, every person is born spiritually dead, separated from God, and unable to save themselves. Sin, death, and condemnation came upon all people as descendants of Adam. We affirm that apart from salvation through Christ, all humanity remains under God’s righteous wrath.
The Gospel
We belive the gospel centers on Jesus Christ, the second covenant head, who was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life under the law, and offered Himself as the atoning sacrifice for sins through His death and resurrection. Salvation is by God's sovereign grace alone through faith in Christ, not human works. Believers are justified by faith and receive the righteousness of Christ as a gift.
The Church
We believe the church is the covenant community of God's people, called to worship God according to Scripture and to live holy lives reflecting the gospel. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are sacraments that signify and seal God’s covenant promises. The church is responsible for proclaiming the gospel and nurturing believers in faith and obedience.
